My Trucks
I currently own two Chevy medium duty trucks. The first,
which is the one I will be restoring, is a 1964 Chevy C60 dump truck and the second, which I bought as
a parts truck, is a 1966 Chevy C60 with a flat bed and rear lift gate. Below are some pictures and
brief specifications about the trucks.
1964 Chevy C60
This is my restoration truck. It had a 327 V-8 motor at
the time of my purchase but subsequent research revealed it left the factory with a 292 L6. The
transmission is a factory original New Process 540C 5-speed and it drives a Chevy 15,000 pound 2-speed
rear axle. The truck is in excellent shape given the 40 years of rugged work for which is was
manufactured. Click on some of the thumbnails for a larger view...
1966 Chevy C60
This is a truck I bought on e-bay and intend to use it as
a parts truck. It, too, is in excellent shape and would be an excellent restoration candidate, but I
need parts and they are hard to come by for the medium duty trucks. It has a 292 L6 motor in great
running condition and with low mileage. The transmission is a factory original Chevy 4-speed and it
drives a Chevy 15,000 pound single speed rear axle. Click on some of the thumbnails for a larger

Since my 1966
Chevy C60 was purchased as a parts vehicle I didn't need the flat bed and lift
gate assembly. I attempted to sell it, but given it's age, old
leaking hydraulic system and the fact that it was welded to the
frame in several places, I elected to cut it up and bring it to
the scrap yard for recycling. After a couple weekends of cutting
with both a Lincoln Pro Cut 60 Plasma Cutter and Oxy-Acetylene
torches, I had the truck down to a cab and chassis. I saved many
pieces of channel iron, round stock and plate steel for future
fabrication projects. Click on some of
